Community paint-a-long 2: Infantry Unit.

Postby mcfonz » Mon Jul 07, 2014 11:17 pm

Right, the Boudhi experiment was somewhat of a success and some have expressed that they enjoyed partaking and/or watching miniatures develop. I spoke with some of the 'crowd' in the shed and the general feeling was perhaps be less specific this time.

So, this time we have kept it simple.

The theme for the second challenge is to paint a Unit of infantry type miniatures. There must be at least four but can number as many as you like above that. No cavalry or mounter miniatures but beasts and swarms are acceptable. So if you wanted to do a unit of 101 zombie dogs, you could do that. Or if you have an insane amount of 2nd ed Gretchin, you could do those.

So long as there are at least four models it is all fine.

The deadline for this event is Sunday 7th September 2014.

And ofcourse, post WIP's of your units as you paint them, encourage others or help motivate them into doing something by calling them a ninny or a lazy moody twunk!

No prizes currently for this one, unless I can rustle something up out of the depths of my man cave . . . .

I'm in for sure. I'll figure out what I want to paint and I'll get a photo of the primed models up soon.

Right, I'm in and I'll paint these:

Seeing as the minimum number is only four, I can't see the partially painted/fully painted members being an issue... so that's my pledge (don't expect Duff standards though :D).

I'll at least try and get something appropriate painted by then, at the moment I'm a bit all over the place painting wise, but I'll see if I can restrict my self to painting up a unit before september 7th

might be a good opportunity to finally get some space marines painted, but we'll see

I might join in with this depending on when Wayland games seem fit to ship me the miniatures I ordered. September the 7th might be tight. ;)

Do all WIP/Finished pix get posted in this thread or do we have individual threads for our units?

glad to hear it!

I found myself looking at some bushido figures I just got in yesterday and trying to see if I could add them in with a couple other figures i might have laying around to make a little shaolin posse for this... so it has me thinking about new projects too. Though, so far I can only come up with 3 figs for the unit, so it might be a non starter.

Not that I don't have a billion other projects that could fit this bill.

I'm in!

i say I'm in, I'll maybe get 4 undercoated, and a few colours on.

Good idea though, aim low with 4, then another, and another...

I want to get in on this, I really do. But seeing as I (still) haven't been able to order a much-needed new set of paints, or any minis, I probably won't get around to it. Just too many tight months in a row right now, thanks to moving house and my boy's birthday next month.

They had better arrive within a sensible time scale - I need to have them painted for this year's Halloween special game.

Well, I'm in, though I may have the lamest entry, since I'm over 1/2 way done with it at the outset. But, since the LAST painting challenge was in part to get my slack ass in motion and I'm still not done with it, I better commit to this one, any way I can.

So, my scouts will make it by the deadline. With the amount of weekends I have busy between then and now, I doubt I'll have time for any more, but if I do, I already have a four man unit assembled and ready to go next.
