Community PAL: Winter Spirit (Ends Dec 15)

Postby mcfonz » Mon Nov 02, 2015 8:19 pm

The end of the year is nigh and owing to the fact that those of us in the Northern Hemisphere will now be subjected to what the Starks of Winterfell have been warning us about, it's time for the last Comm PAL of 2015.

After a bit of deliberation this PAL is to be themed "Winter Spirit". As usual, feel free to interpret and express this in any way that you feel through the medium of miniature painting. No set scale. No set period. Bonus points will be awarded for references to Christmas, not because we are religious, but because we live in a capatalist world and everyone knows 'the hollidays are coming'!

It will run from now up until the New Year (I am deliberating extending it a little) - so get them brushes out and get painting! DO IT! :D

Pretty sure I'm the only one doing this, but I still want an extension.

Spirits of Christmas. Three Kings...

What a superb game this is and will become, my prediction was weak and we will be many more.

fantastic approach, and extra props to keep the PAL going when so many of us are likely distracted by holidays and other nonsense. :beardy:

Thanks kindly! Think I'm done now but for varnishing, but I can't get that done in the rain and pics are a bit glarey under artificial light of unvarnished metallics so I'll post finished article up on the weekend.

copied from the shed: "the alum rod is between drill bit sizes so I can't pin the bases properly, the middle wight base got fogged by superglue when it was pinned (so that needs a rethink), and the whole ethereal blue (as opposed to the ubiquitous green) didn't really come out on large sections of them. I also think they still come across as clothes instead of spiritly vapours so overall I failed to do what I intended. I like the weird metal effect I managed to get on the blades (not sure it comes out in the photo but it's purpley reddy electric blue) but it still don't look magical - thinking I should have gone for out right powersword type paintwork. I might try and work out how to put a frost effect on the base which would be on theme, but I'm worried it would just look like fogged superglue."

I still like them.

Also, you win the Last Man Standing award, for the only December PAL entry among us all
