Salute 2017 SF table

I guess I should be putting up pics to echo fonz's, so here's the state of play on the other half:

Everything so far

You can see in some of those the magnets set up for flexible wall attachments. Similarly for door placement, but can't see those.

These are essentially space hulk sections scaled up some to fit the huge new termies and splayed out stealer arms, and I like the scale up for making mere mortal humans suitably insignificant.
Brave you all!
What a superb game this is and will become, my prediction was weak and we will be many more.

Well it's a hasslefree table so no :)

What i really need is a handful of opfor. I was planning on these:

And one of these:

And if anything else sounds good i'm open to it.

Who are the protagonists? Hasslefree not-colonial marines? Got a few of those around unpainted, but would be happy to do some of the opfor as well!

A crew of ill-repute! (inc space ogre hopefully)

The bad guys are pencilled in as the above (faceless corp marine types and ed209) and some mawes (their escaped interdimensional experiments). But nothing is set in stone yet!

I was planning on a warhammer quest dungeon explore setup but i realised that won't have a big visual drawto start with so it'll be something else now. I do want it to be under time pressure so games run at short predictable pace, and i'd like to extend that thematically to some sort of temporal crisis with players using time as a resource. Make of that what you will! Doomed ship to escape from? Temporal vortices? Eddy's in the space time continuum? (Is he?)

progress...

I've solved half of the door problem - room doors are sorted, but corridor ones remain an issue.

Apart from that the only technical challenge is the electrics, but I'm pretending that can be slapped on later.

Some images of the latest room and the door prototypes (magnets are implied):

Current status. 3/4 rooms structurally complete, room doors finished (might abandoned corridor doors for now). Discovered three of the corridors have become seriously warped somehow though, not sure if I can fix... :(

sorry to here about the warping, it looks grand to my eyes, maybe make the warping a feature?

Yeah, if it's a damaged hulk it's bound to have been structurally compromised. Just go with it ;)

December update. Christmas obviously screwing with my free time but hoping to make up for that in the actual holiday. Mostly been working on solving the corridor door problem which has turned out a bit more intricate than I would have liked but I'm satisfied it will work. Would like to have gotten hold of the fenris sulaco doors but while Ian's in crisis I picked up some cheap MDF bulkheads which work well.

Big picture:
Image

Only three pieces outstanding in the architectural stage. Looking to get them knocked out in the next few days then moving into wiring and detailing. Probably a couple weeks behind schedule now though :puke:

I'd also still like to make a centrepiece...

The door solution

Unlike the room doors corridor doors don't have a natural frame to them unless it's a very big frame. A room without a door is just a natural opening. At the same scale a corridor framed the same way just obviously looks like there's a door missing. You might think this is one of those "meh, it's fine" moments but I can't do that :loopy:

So anyways, here's the prototype.

Door in place (magnetised base).
Image

Door removed (opened).
Image

Frame removed (not a door)
Image

Another section with the same specification frame runners
Image

I say specification but the lack of precision on this is insane :(

I feel your pain regarding the need for precision, and doing it right if you're going to do it at all. At the same time, this already looks pretty f'ing bad-ass, if you ask me.

Being behind schedule is no fun :/ But man, this looks cool.
