Yeah don't try to get your kid playing Diplomacy unless you want behavioural issues to develop :P They're not new or co-operative, but Splendor and Jaipur are great little games that are easy to get the hang of. Dixit is a wonderfully imaginative game and you can easily react to your kid's ability to play by toning up/down the difficulty yourself. Bridget involves a little 3d spacial awareness, but is also fun and once again you can easily control the difficulty for your kid by deciding on how well you play yourself. So yeah, none of them are new, none of them are co-operative, but those are my suggestions :P Zombicide could be a good shout if you haven't played it already. Requires a degree of tactical/forward thinking, though, but could be educational as you explain to him why you should be going through certain actions as you play.

I've ordered Kodama, tree spirits, to get my wife on board also, I like the looks of Shadows over Camelot as well.

Has anyone played Stone Age at all?

Good move :D

Yeah, I really like Stone age, not played it with the expansion though. Good worker placement game, I preferred it to Lords of Waterdeep, but that seems to be more popular. There are a couple of go-to options each turn, which some deem a negative, but that presupposes you get the first placement, so it's not a game-breaker by any means.

If you're gonna go with Stone Age you might as well go with the kids version, "My First Stone Age".

Labyrinth by Ravensburger - I bought it for my eldest daughter (8yo) and it's become a firm family favourite.
Like all children she's become annoyingly good at it whilst her dad flounders!
'Neat, but not gaudy', said the baboon as he painted his arse lime green.
