Right folks a little bit of news.

1) Akula's job has yet again stolen him away from us for Salute . . . . . grown up stuff sucks sometimes.

2) sOOp will take up the mantle for running a WITS table.

Plus we have Ex-F's affair. I need to get forms to those who are putting on a game and at some point, if we can have a get together in the shed for a quick run over of what different people need on the day and we can go from there.

Right, after a meeting of interested parties, it has been decided that we will be planning to be putting on two modern participation games of Wild In The Streets.

These in addition to the HF table - that can/will be sorted as and when needed.

One of the things we need to look into is a banner or banners.

So a quick search has roller banners or sail banners as possible options:
https://www.solopress.com/roller-banners/wide/
https://www.hampshireflag.co.uk/FeatherFlags.html
https://www.helloprint.co.uk/banner-printing

What do people think would work best for showing off the forum and getting the Random Platypus name out there?

1) The roller banners are, I think, the best all round banners. Could be pricey at a decent size though.

2) The feather flags look cool. I'm not sure how they look in real life but they sure look spanky on that page.

3) The mention of the eyelets on the Fence banners makes me think that this was what we used to use on the old frother banners at Salute. You can tie them around the tables and they look good from afar but up close, having them below the table top level means visibility is limited.
I like the X-banners but 160mm isn't that tall. (it's not over short but still, for visibility...)

If the cash was available, I'd say a Fence banner tied around the table, backed up with a Roller banner or X- Banner standing next to the table.

I don't think a few pamphlets lying about on the tables would hurt either.

No booth babes? I'm sure at least one of the platypi in attendance would jump at the chance to wear the outfit.

Agreed.

I think the main disadvantage with the fence banner tied around the table is that once you have players around it, it's obscured, and if the intention is to have a busy table, then it'll be obscured the majority of the time.

In terms of presentation the roller one is arguably the best - it's not overly expensive.
https://www.solopress.com/roller-banners/wide/

£48 for a one meter wide by two meters tall banner. It's £63.60 to order two if needed. The flag type ones are more expensive it would seem, it would appear that they were cheaper when I last looked a few months ago, I'm sure I found one for around £40.

Pamphlets are a must IMHO. Or at least something like a business card that can be taken away with the forum addy on it etc.

I agree with all the points Rev made (worryingly).

1mx2m is massive, a couple for that price would be awesome.

There isn't enough gusset reinforcement in the world to support a jumping Platypus, and quite frankly the mental image is horrifying...

Roll-ups work really well, plus they're super easy to transport.

So, how do we contribute to the game(s)?

For WITS Chris is going to look at the photos of my Carnage City buildings and come up with some ideas for layouts and scenarios. Once Chris has done this then we can start formulating a plan.

  • Buildings - I'm the first to admit that some of my buildings are better than others so if someone wants to contribute a building then once we have a suggested layout it might be a good point to decide whether to swap out one of mine for something better.
  • Vehicles - None of my vehicles have been detailed (yet) so if anyone has nice vehicles to use as scenery of fancies painting some up for the game that is a possibility.
  • Set dressing - If anyone fancies adding in some small details to the board (which may or may not have an impact on the game) post up some ideas. E.g. billboards, street furniture, rooftop detailing etc.
  • Miniatures - The game will of course require miniatures. Fonzy said something about sending some out for people to paint up.

Vehicles - I have a buttload of modern vehicles some of which are in a better state than others so I can certainly start sorting those out for the games.

I have some of the WitS gangs but apart from the crust punks non are complete, although the roller girls will arrive at some point so they'll be pushed up the queue.

Two independent RP tables confirmed - both to hold Wild in the Streets games.

Waiting for further news on the Hasslefree table.
